Preparing the host families

In the previous weeks to the LTTA 4 a teachers, students and parents' meeting was scheduled in order to provide as much information about LTTA 4 as necessary. The headmaster made a presentation to explain and clarify some items. All participants agreed to organize a brief "survival" English course to improve relationships between host families and guest students. 

Victoria García appointed the parents on Tuesday afternoon along three sessions, just to teach a pretty basic but useful English. The Headmaster also prepared a document, a very easy manual. If you like to have a look just click here.

Monday, March 9th

Unfortunately just the German Delegation was able to arrive in Granada. On Monday 9th at 8:30 the school Headmaster and the project coordinators welcomed the participant students. Then some ice breaking activities led by Victoria García were scheduled. 

At 11:30 the first programmed workshop started. It dealt with Flamenco Culture  in order to provide our German friends some information about Flamenco dancing, percussion and singing.

Tuesday March 10th

The students and teachers visited the Parque de las Ciencias in Granada. We made a guided tour to the solar photovoltaic roof installation and to other indoor/outdoor installations and exhibitions. Then the group carried out a workshop about solar radiation entitled "Light and color in Nature".  After lunch time in the gardens we still had time to visit other exhibitions freely.

Wednesday March 11th

A field trip was scheduled for Wednesday. It included a guided tour to a Solar Power Farm in Pedro Martínez. The owner himself led the visit and answered all questions the students and teachers made.  Then we travelled to Diezma where we carried a second guided tour, that time to a Ham Company powered by solar energy. The students took some notes and pictures and shooted some videos in order to prepare a documentation of the field trip and produce an explanation video.  

Thursday, March 12th

The first cultural walk along downtown was on Monday 9th afternoon. Our teacher David Villén led a tour of the Albaicín and Granada city center. However the guided tour over the Alhambra was on Thursday. It was led by our Art teacher Pedro Hernández and started in the Generalife gardens then the Alcazaba and finished in the Nasrid Palaces. It was the last day the historic site remained open due to it being closed till June the next day. The group had lunch at the gardens and came back to school in the afternoon to keep working.

A farewell dinner at school gardens with students' families was scheduled at 20.00. It was a nice and moving time!

Friday March 13th

Since 8:30 in the morning the students prepared the exhibition of all appliances and documents. The Webinar was scheduled at 11:45, but finally just the Portuguese Team was able to join, due to Mikra 2nd School being closed at the time. Nevertheless the four group presentations about photovoltaic technology were made. It was really a nice and moving video conference!

We prepared a small exhibition of all solar devices at school gardens. The Project Coordinator, Herr Schweighart, shooted a short video and Mariella as well. 

The closing ceremony was very brief because the IES Cartuja was already closed. It wasn't being opened again along the school year.

Saturday March 14th

The German Delegation left Granada on Saturday morning 14th. The city was already on alert because of the COVID-19 crisis. However the enclosure had not started yet. The group flew from Málaga to Paris and then to Germany. Some delays and unusual security measures didn't let them get home safely till Sunday. They all arrived in good health.
